Women inside. Detained women and Penitentiary Police Agents share their story.

Donne dentro. Detenute e agenti di polizia penitenziaria raccontano

Detained women and Penitentiary Police agents talk about their life for the first time, sharing the experience of living, for a reason or another, the whole day or part of it inside a correctional facility.
This is a travel diary in the prisons of Genova, Milan, Pozzuoli, Rome, Sollicciano, Venice and Verona of the Nineties, which can’t find comparisons in Italian literature.
The author has collected the voices of women who live and work inside prisons: detained, police agents, volunteers who have all told their everyday life, the job, the discrimination, the difficulties, the love, the loneliness, the idea of future starting from such a difficult and painful reality.
A book is born, and it draws the words, the projects and the changes in these actresses in the scene of prison, which is maybe the most removed institution of our culture.

Afterward by Lidia Menapace
“Not only is this book a witness, but also a contribution to political material of first order, to build other horizons and other perspectives of the community life”. (LM)
