Oro rosso. Fragole, pomodori, molestie e sfruttamento nel Mediterraneo. (Red Gold. Strawberries, Tomatoes, Harassment and Explotation in the Mediterranean Sea)

Oro rosso. Fragole, pomodori, molestie e sfruttamento nel Mediterraneo

Oro rosso, Red Gold, is an investigative fieldwork documentary that unmasks exploitation, harassment and psychological torture suffered by women workers in the Mediterranean Sea area.

Red Gold is the result of more than 130 interviews of female workers, trade unionists and members of different associations. The book explores living and working conditions in Italy, Spain and Morocco, which are the most important exporters of fruit and vegetables. Women's salary is not the only factor that marks injustice and unequal treatment between men and women, but these workers are also forced to exhausting shifts, extortions, black-mails, physical and psychological violence and sexual abuse.

Through these pages, voices of female workers finally emerge together with their daily survival stories, their resistance and attempt in denouncing the crimes suffered that remained unheard.
