The protagonists of the book are animals: from the chameleon, whose world changes in a breath, to the deer that every year loses its horns. From the spider, whose world hangs by a thread, to the whale whose world «sinks, rises, gushes up to the stars», passing through other creatures that tell their way of being in the world.
In the final pages the characters meet under a cosmic darkness dotted with stars, in a silence that gives peace, serenity and relief. In the stillness of that instant, «before everything changes in a moment», animals realize that they are not alone in the world, but «sparks of the same universe», ready to discover together new secrets and new worlds.
